It is a game, and it is fiction

Ibadan Life is a game for adults. The streets are real; the lives are not. Every resident, event, price, salary, crime, arrest, election result, court outcome, illness, relationship and news story in it is made up, or is the doing of other players. Any likeness to a real person, living or dead, or to a real event is a coincidence, except where a player has chosen to use their own name.

Real places, no affiliation

Streets, areas, landmarks and many place names come from open map data (OpenStreetMap and the Overture Maps Foundation). Banks, hospitals, hotels, schools, churches, mosques, shops, filling stations, airlines, radio stations and other businesses and institutions appear by name only because they are part of the real city. Ibadan Life is not owned by, sponsored by, endorsed by or connected to any of them, unless a placement is marked as sponsored. Their names and marks belong to their owners. What happens at such a place in the game says nothing about the real one. Positions on the map can be wrong or out of date. If you own or run a place and want its entry corrected or removed, write to us.

Government, police and public bodies

Offices, elections, taxes, treasuries, the police, the EFCC, courts, NEPA and every other public body in the game are game mechanics with familiar names. They are not the real bodies, do not speak for them, and are not a comment on any real office holder. The game is satire in places. In-game elections have no connection to any real election.

Money in the game is not money

Ẹyọ and the naira figure shown in the game are scores. Bank accounts, savings, interest, loans, mortgages, credit scores, ajo circles, cooperatives, investments, shares, taxes, betting slips and insurance in the game are simulations. No real deposit is held, no real credit is given, and none of it is regulated financial activity. In-game money cannot be withdrawn or exchanged for real money.

Not advice

Nothing in the game is financial, investment, legal, tax, medical, health, safety or career advice. In-game interest rates, prices, wages, rents, illnesses and treatments are tuned for play, not for accuracy. Do not make real decisions from them.

Betting, alcohol, drugs and crime

Betting in the game uses in-game money only; nothing of real value can be won or lost. Alcohol, drugs, bribery, fraud, robbery and other crimes appear as parts of a story about city life. They are not instructions and not encouragement. If gambling is a problem for you or someone close to you, please seek help where you live.

Adult content

Some features are for adults only and are off unless a player who has confirmed their age turns them on. They are suggestive, not explicit, and involve no real people.

Other players

Chat, messages, names, photos, voice notes and clips come from players, not from us. We review reports and remove what breaks the Terms, but we do not check everything before it appears and are not responsible for what players say or do. Never send real money, passwords or personal documents to someone you met in the game.

Links, sponsors and outside services

Sponsored billboards and shops are marked. We are not responsible for a sponsor's products, or for sites and services we link to, including payment, sign-in and map providers, which have their own terms.

Early play

The game is unfinished and changes often. It can be slow, wrong or unavailable, and progress can be lost. Numbers shown on public pages are live game data, not audited figures.
